While driving around Rice Lake I've noticed some red signs on yards with the words “Try Church.” I am disappointed in these signs because they represent the false message that the modern corrupt church is propagating. The message is that the church can save you, help you, and fulfill all your spiritual and social needs.

The modern church loves to exalt itself and teach people to look to the church for salvation and answers. They teach the church is the narrow gate you must enter to be saved. This a totally false and a totally different gospel than what Jesus and the apostles preached, yet so many are being fooled by it.

The modern church has fallen away from Christ and is just a religious, social business run by false preachers and false Christians (I Tim 4). They have rejected Christ and Christianity and invented a new religion called Churchianity. This new religion believes the church can save you and you should worship and serve the church instead of Christ. Those who follow this false religion are lost sinners and will perish.

Jesus hardly ever mentions the church in the scriptures but constantly teaches all sinners to come to Him

through repentance and belief in Christ and to learn to know Christ in order to be saved and have the new birth and eternal life. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me.” (John 14:6) No where do the apostles or Paul exalt the church or baptism or confirmation or an altar call as the means of salvation. The true church is simply the fellowship of true believers but it cannot save anyone.

There are few true Christians in today's modern church. Paul says, “I am determined to know nothing among you, save Jesus Christ and Him crucified.” (I Cor 2:2) Paul and the apostles never pointed to the church, but always to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as the means of salvation. Paul teaches all people can only be saved through hearing and obeying the true message of Jesus Christ, (Rom 1) not through joining or experiencing church.

It is best to leave the modern church so you can follow Jesus instead (II Cor 6). The message of the true Gospel is: Try Jesus, Not Church; Worship Jesus, Not Church; Believe in Jesus, Not Church; Follow Jesus, Not Church.
